SXSW: Pitbull Joined by Austin Mahone & G.R.L., Debuts World Cup Song 'We Are One'

Pitbull’s iTunes Festival performance at South By Southwest was not a particularly strong draw for conference badgeholders looking to discover the next big -- namely because the Cuban rapper is already among the most successful acts to headline the Austin festival.
Indeed, one would be hard-pressed to find another performer with as many recognizable hits in his pocket -- and Pitbull doesn’t skimp, delivering in quick fire succession such chart-toppers as “On the Floor” (his smash with Jennifer Lopez), “I Like It” (Enrique Iglesias) and “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” (Usher), giving shout-outs to the Holiday Inn and Barbra Streisand and amping up a college student-heavy crowd with Miami anthems like “Culo” and “Calle Ocho.”
The 90-minute set kicked off with an introduction to Mr. Worldwide, followed by starter songs like “International Love” and “Dance Again.”  In between songs, Pitbull addressed the audience almost as if it was a pep rally, encouraging fist pumps during “Rain Over Me” (featuring Marc Anthony) and “Don’t Stop the Party,” with hands to the sky on the anthemic “Feel This Moment” (featuring an A-Ha sample and vocals by Christina Aguilera) and, of course, previewing his biggest smash, “Give Me Everything,” by emphasizing how he took his life from “a negative to a positive.”
Pitbull also debuted a new song in Austin, the track “We Are One,” which serves as the theme song to June’s World Cup in Brazil and featured a video projection of international flags.
Two of his most recent collaborators, the girl group G.R.L. and newcomer Austin Mahone, were there in the flesh to perform their songs “Wild Wild Love” and “Mmm Yeah,” respectively. Their appearances, however, felt more like footnotes in light of the rapper’s ridiculously energetic solo set during which he was accompanied by four dancers and a six-member band.
The fact that Pitbull too got his start with an early-in-his-career South By Southwest show was not lost on the hitmaker, who shouted out Austin and the festival several times over and, at one point, declared, “Let’s pay South By Southwest back.” With so many locals in the crowd, it was a smart acknowledgement, much like the portion during Pitbull’s show when he runs down a list of Latin countries to pump up attendees who hail from those cultures. On Friday night, it was “Mexicano” that got the loudest cheers. While not surprising considering Texas’ proximity to Mexico, Pitbull upped the ante with another scream-worthy declaration. “No matter what,” he told the crowd, “we’re representing the beautiful country that is the United States of America.”
Pitbull’s remarked inspired instant chants of “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” and, once again, you could sense an appreciation coming from the stage. After all, the land of opportunity has certainly provided plenty for this artist.

AVICII - Wake Me Up - LYRICS

  • Avicii
    DJ
  • Tim Bergling, better known by his stage name Avicii, is a Swedish DJ, remixer, and record producer. Avicii ranked at number 3 on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJs poll in 2011, in 2012 and again in 2013.

  • "Wake Me Up"
Feeling my way through the darkness
    Guided by a beating heart
I can't tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start

They tell me I'm too young to understand
They say I'm caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes
    Well that's fine by me

    [2x]
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
    And I didn't know I was lost

I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don't have any plans

Wish that I could stay forever this young
Not afraid to close my eyes
Life's a game made for everyone
    And love is the prize

    [2x]
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
    And I didn't know I was lost

    Didn't know I was lost
    I didn't know I was lost
    I didn't know I was lost
    I didn't know (didn't know, didn't know)

    News:

Avicii Remixes His Own Single: Listen To The Swede’s Overhaul Of “Addicted To You”

Why pay someone to remix your track when you’re one of the biggest DJs in the world? That’s the question Avicii obviously pondered before deciding to reinterpret Addicted To You, by himself. The Audra Mae-voiced floor filler is the Swede’s follow up to mega-hit Hey Brother  and is already causing major chart damage internationally due, in part, to the extraordinary lesbian bandit-themed video.
So how different is the DJ’s new version of “Addicted To You”? Not very. The Avicii by Avicii remix is more of an extended mix than a complete overhaul. It’s longer and the vocals sit differently in the mix but it’s fairly comparable to the original. After all, the track was already custom made for clubs — so why ruin what is clearly a winning formula? Listen after the jump.

MILEY CYRUS - Wrecking Ball - LYRICS - DNT store

  • Miley Cyrus

  • Miley Ray Cyrus is an American actress and recording artist. The daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she held minor roles in the television series Doc and the film Big Fish in her childhood

  • "Wrecking Ball"
We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain
    We jumped never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell.
A love no one could deny

Don't you ever say I just walked away
    I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
    I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me
    Yeah, you, you wreck me

I put you high up in the sky
And now, you're not coming down
It slowly turned, you let me burn
And now, we're ashes on the ground

Don't you ever say I just walked away
    I will always want you
I can't live a lie, running for my life
    I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me

I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
    Yeah, you, you wreck me

I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
    And instead of using force
    I guess I should've let you win
I never meant to start a war
I just wanted you to let me in
    I guess I should've let you win

Don't you ever say I just walked away
    I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was wreck me

I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was wreck me
    Yeah, you, you wreck me
    Yeah, you, you wreck me

ONE DIRECTION - story of my life - LYRICS

  • One Direction
    Band
  • One Direction are an English-Irish pop boy band based in London, consisting of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

  • "Story Of My Life"
Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days
She told me in the morning she don't feel the same about us in her bones
Seems to me that when I die these words will be written on my stone

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I been holding on too tight
    With nothing in between

    The story of my life
    I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
And time... is frozen (the story of, the story of)
    The story of my life
    I give her hope
    I spend her love
    Until she's broke
    Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

Written on these walls are the colors that I can't change
Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage
I know that in the morning now I see us in the light upon a hill
Although I am broken, my heart is untamed, still

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The fire beneath my feet is burning bright
The way that I been holding on so tight
    With nothing in between

    The story of my life
    I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
And time... is frozen (the story of, the story of)
    The story of my life
    I give her hope
    I spend her love
    Until she's broke
    Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

And I been waiting for this time to come around
But baby running after you is like chasing the clouds

    The story of my life
    I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm
    And time is frozen
    The story of my life
I give her hope (give her hope)
    I spend her love
Until she's broke (until she's broke inside)
    Inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

    The story of my life
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

'Cultural appropriation isn't nice, regardless of context': Harry Styles sparks a race row among One Direction FANS as he poses in Native American headpiece
Harry Styles has sparked a Twitter racism row among One Direction fans after posing in a Native American headpiece for an Instagram shot.
The 20-year-old pop heartthrob threw on in a feathered war bonnet, traditionally worn in battle and for ceremonial occasions, in an artistic black and white snap, which was promptly uploading to the social networking site.
But the image quickly divided his loyal army on micro-blogging site Twitter, in particular receiving criticism from fan account @1Dneews, which boasts an impressive 732,000 followers.

But numerous other fans were quick to jump to the defence of the star, explaining that Harry was merely trying the headpiece on and suggesting the page was making a 'big deal out of nothing'.
One wrote: 'Maybe he just liked the way it looked on his head................
'But if anything it's making a deal out of nothing, I know you mean well but there really is nothing meant by it, we all know that.'

    Demons - IMAGINE DRAGONS LYRICS

  • Imagine Dragons
    Band

  • Imagine Dragons is an American alternative rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. The band gained exposure following the September 2012 release of their debut studio album, Night Visions, which peaked at number 2 on the weekly Billboard 200 chart.

  • "Demons"
    When the days are cold
    And the cards all fold
    And the saints we see
    Are all made of gold

    When your dreams all fail
    And the ones we hail
    Are the worst of all
    And the blood’s run stale

    I wanna hide the truth
    I wanna shelter you
    But with the beast inside
    There’s nowhere we can hide

    No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
    This is my kingdom come
    This is my kingdom come

    When you feel my heat
    Look into my eyes
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide
    Don’t get too close
    It’s dark inside
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide

    At the curtain’s call
    It's the last of all
    When the lights fade out
    All the sinners crawl

    So they dug your grave
    And the masquerade
    Will come calling out
    At the mess you've made

    Don't wanna let you down
    But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
    Don't wanna hide the truth

    No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
    This is my kingdom come
    This is my kingdom come

    When you feel my heat
    Look into my eyes
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide
    Don’t get too close
    It’s dark inside
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide

They say it's what you make
I say it's up to fate
    It's woven in my soul
I need to let you go

Your eyes, they shine so bright
    I wanna save that light
    I can't escape this now
    Unless you show me how

    When you feel my heat
    Look into my eyes
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide
    Don’t get too close
    It’s dark inside
    It’s where my demons hide
    It’s where my demons hide

Imagine Dragons wear their influences at Allstate Arena

Imagine Dragons offered something for every mainstream taste Thursday at a packed Allstate Arena. Channeling commercial trends from the past five years, the Las Vegas band's innocuous 95-minute concert came across like a hits-formatted radio station shuffling between Britpop, dance, roots rock, new wave and time-filling ads. Padding its set with random instrumentals and extended arrangements, the group displayed the look of an act unprepared to headline large venues.
The quartet had a meteoric rise. Shortly after releasing its debut album in 2012, Imagine Dragons went from relative unknowns to becoming one of the few artists in the digital-download era to sell millions of records. Multiple publications trumpeted the group's breakout status, a claim bolstered by international smashes such as "Radioactive." The single recently won a Grammy, which spurred Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme to publicly insult the band, further contributing to a divide between fans and detractors.
Currently, in the case of Imagine Dragons, such criticism is no match for rafter-reaching anthems and sticky choruses. Supported by the crowd's mass sing-a-longs, the group could've gotten away with almost anything Thursday. In many ways, it did. Multiple drum solos, a middling guitar interlude and an overwrought bass solo evoked 70s prog-rock excess. A flaccid cover of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" witnessed singer Dan Reynolds' voice squeak and a rhythm section sound on par with video gamers trying to follow along to Rock Band. Click tracks became audible when the band failed to maintain the proper tempo.
None of the shortcomings seemed to matter. Neither did Reynolds' awkward attempts at dancing. Wearing a shirt that exposed his midriff if he lifted his arms or punched the air, the front man turned vague lyrical refrains into grand proclamations of optimism ("Reach, it's not as bad as it seems"), anxiety ("I cannot breathe") and struggle ("I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust") that were embraced as empowering truths. While catchy in spots, Imagine Dragons' music subscribed to a similarly indistinct formula.
Many songs merely replicated their influences. The synthesized pulse and rushing hook of "Hear Me" mirrored any number of Killers tunes. Exaggerated drama on "Amsterdam" duplicated Coldplay's go-to template. "It's Time" mimicked Mumford & Sons' revivalist folk-rock. The self-importance and soaring nature of "Nothing Left to Say" simulated modern U2.
"They say we're crazy," Reynolds repeated on "Who We Are." But the statement—and danger it implied—rang hollow. As evidenced by its performance, Imagine Dragons remain in search of an identity.
